Duagwyn GJ Hermione
Black with white and white poll

We had Dragonfly SB Gjallar (half brother to our Gryff) here for part of the winter of 14/15, in hopes he would breed Sophia. It was just too cold for Sophia to come into heat, except for one day when she sorta, kinda did, but spent most of the time running from her suitor. Seeing signs of heat a month later, I gave up on the breeding in dispair.
Imagine my surprise when a tiny goat head made its appearance from Sophia’s nether regions during milking, on the morning of June 7. I was expecting a “who’s yer daddy?” kidding August 15th!
Long story short, I got my Gjallar kid, and she is a beautiful girl, with her daddy’s telltale nose spot as a dead giveaway of her paternity. We wanted to honour the surprise she gave us all, so, for her name, we gave her the feminine version of Hermes, Greek god of communication, travel, good fortune, thieves,…and tricksters.
Pregnancy and lactation should shed our girl of the last of her baby pudge. Hermione insists on drinking for her dam, still, given half the chance. I thought she’d grown out of it during Sophia’s dry off, to learn otherwise: Hermione consumed 12-hours worth of colostrum earmarked for her mother’s brand new quints.
